Praying for Armageddon: Evangelicals, the US and the Middle East

Praying for Armageddon goes inside the evangelical Christian movement to
explore its influence on US democracy and foreign policy.

Preparing for the “end times”, a grassroots pastor gathers an army of veterans in the heartland of the United States, and megachurch ministers provide spiritual advice to politicians in the nation’s capital.

They call for the “final battle” which they believe will trigger the second coming of Christ. Central to their apocalyptic prophecy is Israel. It is with their blessing that the Trump administration controversially recognises Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moves the US embassy there in 2018.

“It feels like everyone has a say about the destiny and the future of Jerusalem except for the Palestinians living in it,” says Palestinian activist Fayrouz Sharqawi.

Praying for Armageddon is a documentary film by Tonje Hessen Schei.

What is the difference between Religion and SUPERSTITION.?

As an agnostic I believe honest religion promotes human inclusiveness, egoistic religiosity on the other hand becomes a tool for tribal-sectarian exclusivity.
I think most religious founders aimed at the former, while not all who use their names do.
I believe superstition is a false association of a possible consequence of an act as a being a general rule, such as that walking under a ladder (which might lead to getting an unrequired paint-job) as ‘bad luck’.
Ditto black cat syndrome, whether as negative or positive omen.

Religion is probably mostly a belief. Interesting to note that when slave traders mixed white christian slaves from Ireland with black people from Africa the result was voodoo type religions.

Religious fanatics of any stripe can be a very dangerous lot when they attempt to impose their irrational and anachronistic beliefs on the world of the twenty-first century with its deadly high-tech weapons of mass destruction. Especially when they have the wealth, power, and, most importantly, the will to do so! From where I stand, the central belief of the fanatical evangelical Christian movement is as dangerous as religious delusions get, because these fanatics are actually praying for Armageddon (WWIII), because they believe this will be the harbinger of the second coming of Christ. Seems more than a little unhinged to me!

Scotty, please beam me the hell up and fast…there is definitely no intelligent life on this planet!

In the mid 17th century came a movement among the Jewish population some of which were ardent followers, writes Robert Sepehr in his book “Redemption Through Sin” and soon to be copied by the Franks along much of the same lines.
Today we have in the Christian evangelical group that has captured the populace in much the same way .There is also another book that comes to mind ,”Forcing The Hand of God” by Grace Halsell ,written many years ago but is all the more appropriate .
The Messiah will come when the time is right and might already have been here for quite some time .We just refuse to see and hear . I don’t need to say more .

There is a lot of highly problematic cross-fertilization between the evangelical Christians and the Zionist Jews regarding the way they envision their respective endgames. They want Armageddon for different reasons, but they both want it. Primitive, irrational religious delusions are not a good fit with the high-tech world of the twenty-first century and could have catastrophic consequences for the entire world if these fanatics get their wish!!!
