The United States and Israel are Blowing Up the Mideast to Conceal Their Disastrous Defeat in Gaza

By Finian Cunningham

The longer this horror goes on, the worse it will get for Washington and its Israeli client state.

The United States and Israel have only one reasonable option left, and that is to end the genocide in Gaza by calling an immediate ceasefire, according to Iranian Professor Mohammad Marandi.

The longer this horror goes on, the worse it will get for Washington and its Israeli client state.

But here’s their self-defeating dilemma. The U.S. and Israel seem incapable of making that rational decision because they are desperate to conceal the utter defeat that the U.S. and Western-backed Israeli regime have already incurred in Gaza.

The mounting military losses for Israeli troops in Gaza are correlated with the increasing missile strikes on Yemen by the United States (and Britain).

This deranged dynamic is leading to a wider all-out war in the Middle East region, one where the U.S. and Iran become direct antagonists.

If the United States and Israel go down that path, and it looks increasingly inevitable, then they are facing a definitive defeat, contends Prof Marandi.

Iran and its formidable allies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and elsewhere have the military capability to deliver a crushing blow.

The “Axis of Resistance” cannot be defeated militarily. Marandi points out that Israel has failed to eliminate the Palestinian Hamas militants in Gaza after more than three months of non-stop bombardment with unlimited military and political support from the United States.

The horrendous slaughter of civilians – women and children torn apart day after day – is only exposing the abysmal criminality of the Israeli state and its Western patrons. It is an irredeemable loss of political and moral credibility in the eyes of the world, including among the majority of Western citizens.

The exposure of rank hypocrisy, duplicity, and barbarous criminality is fatal for the Western powers and their Israeli client.

If the U.S. and Israel escalate to a wider war in the coming weeks they will be up against much stronger opponents who will undoubtedly destroy them. Marandi implies that the firepower seen so far from various resistance groups is only a fraction of what lies in store by the enemies of the U.S. and Israel.

In addition to military firepower, there is the catastrophic consequence of global economic ruination for the United States and its Western allies, who are already riven with political and economic crises.

An important distinction, Marandi argues, is that the U.S. is not haplessly being manipulated by Israel and its Machiavellian leader Benjamin Netanyahu.

He contends that the U.S. ultimately holds “the leash on its Israeli attack dog”. The bombing of Yemen and assassinations by the United States across the region all indicate a deliberate policy of war escalation by Washington.

There are contradictions, of course, such as the Biden administration reportedly expressing concern about the risk of a wider war with Iran if U.S. troops get killed in Iraq or Syria.

But the U.S. as an imperial power is irrational. It is trying to assert imperial power by ramping up war, even though war is leading to its historic collapse.

Nevertheless, Professor Marandi confidently asserts that Iranians are not afraid of a nuclear-armed U.S. or Israel. “In my lifetime, apartheid South Africa collapsed and nuclear weapons didn’t save it,” he notes. The same fate is awaiting Israel, he adds.

He predicts the Israeli state is facing terminal collapse from its own internal corruption and incorrigible lawlessness perpetrated over eight decades with full-on Western complicity. Israel is not a viable independent state, he points out. It would fall apart without continuous U.S. and European support.

The United States and Western powers who have tied themselves to the criminality of the Zionist regime are also doomed by the latest phase of genocide in Gaza.

The world has watched this genocide live on TV. Israel, the United States, and its Western partners are pariahs in the eyes of the world. That is the basis for their ultimate and irreparable defeat.

Cunningham and Marandi think ‘that the U.S. ultimately holds “the leash on its Israeli attack dog”.’

Why? Netanyahu has repeatedly snubbed Biden, for instance by publicly rejecting a two-state solution, and slightly less publicly going ahead with clearing a mile-wide ‘security buffer zone’ inside Gaza next to its border with Israel. Israel has a domestic arms industry, and plenty of nuclear weapons – including fusion bombs – with which to deter or attack Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon or Yemen (South Africa had six atomic bombs). What signs has the Israeli regime shown so far of taking its orders from Washington, and what reason is there to think it might any time soon? True, a wider war would hasten the collapse of the USA as global hegemon, but this is already under way. I fear Cunningham is indulging in wishful thinking.

If Biden really wanted to avoid a regional war, he could employ sanctions, a blockade, and the threat of military action – against Israel.

Fine writing as always Finian but I think you got something backwards. It is not the US and its client state Israel but Israel and its client state the US.

Do we really want to die on behalf of the Zionist experiment? …. the US and it’s sock puppet “allies” …are just acting out the tenets laid out at the end of the 19th century in czarist Russia.

These lying land-grabbing ethnic-cleansing Zio supremacists cannot be beat.

They’re going to succeed in their grotesque and sickening genocide in Gaza. Then they’ll totally whitewash the history of it and most of academe will succumb. The few dissidents who know the score will be scoffed at, mocked and ridiculed.

They’re indestructible. They’re the best and most slickest liars the world has ever seen. They’ll humiliate you, get you blackballed, denigrate you, or have their media organs totally ignore you if you’re an articulate, effective and committed anti-Zionist fighter.

Their high verbal IQs make them extremely adept at running astonishingly adroit propaganda campaigns via all sectors of the mass media that they control.

Absolutely no viable U.S. presidential candidate can even mildly buck them whatsoever.

What you said is true. For seventy years the white people in Israel have been stealing Palestinian land, murdering, torturing, then lying about it. The amazing thing about all of it is that they’ve managed to make the Palestinians look like terrorists (bad guys) at least for the US taxpayers who willingly give the white people of Israel money for genocide. Also it’s not only the the Palestinians that white people of Israel attack, they have attacked several countries and stolen their land. Always the Israeli white people claim that they are “victims” and ask for more money. The white Jews of Palestine have been “victims” forever.

      Drew,

“Absolutely no viable U.S. presidential candidate can even mildly buck them whatsoever.”

And do you know the reason for that? It’s because of the humongous US Jewish Lobby that keeps both the US government and its citizens in strict control.

What is the US Jewish Lobby? The link below takes you to a list of US Jewish political organizations. There are over 270 of them and they are funded to the level of billions of dollars. This is the smoking gun that proves the humongous influence from the Tribe. It’s also an irresistible political attack on our democracy. No other cultural/ethnic/religious minority can come anywhere near it.

It is important to distinguish Jews, adherents to an ancient religion that forbids theft and murder, from Zionists, adherents to a fascist, racist political ideology the essence of which is theft and murder.

Rightfully so. … I have long been, and still am, critical of what I see as clear maltreatment of the general Palestinian people by the state of Israel [i.e. its government and security/defense agencies] and, with few exceptions, Western mainstream news-media’s seemingly intentional tokenistic (non)coverage of it.

By doing so, that media, whether they realize it or not, have done a disservice to its own reputation and the Israeli/Jewish people themselves [the road to hell, after all, is also paved with good intentions]. Not as widely criticized thus publicized as the violence are the considerable fossil fuel reserves beneath long-held Palestinian land that are a plausible motivator for war.

Perhaps mostly because I have no Jewish heritage thus experience, I still never expected the level of anti-Semitic attacks in the West since the initial Hamas attack against Israelis. For one thing, the Jewish people in Israel and especially around the world must not be collectively vilified, let alone physically attacked, for the acts of Israel’s government and military, however one feels about the latter’s brutality in Gaza.

It’s blatantly wrong for them to be mistreated, if not terrorized, as though they were responsible for what is happening there. And it should be needless to say that diaspora Palestinians and Western Muslims similarly must not be collectively blamed and attacked for the acts of Hamas violence in Israel or Islamic extremist attacks outside the Middle East.

Also, incredible insensitivity was publicly shown towards Jews freshly mourning the 10/7 victims, especially when considering that young Israelis and Jews elsewhere may not be accustomed to such relatively large-scale carnage (at least not as much as is seen in other parts of the Middle East) in post-9/11 times.

But also concerning about all of the highly publicized two-way partisan exchanges of fury is: what will young diaspora Jewish and diaspora Palestinian children think and feel if/when they hear such misdirected vile hatred towards their fundamental identity? Scary is the real possibility that such public outpour of blind hatred may lead some young children to feel very misplaced shame in their heritage.

        fgsjr,

With due respect, it seems you’re mistaking attacks against individual Jews with criticism of Judaism.

The USA invented the atomic bomb and used it. Germany invented Nazism and used it. Judaism invented Zionism and used it.

To separate the invention from the inventor/user, as if there’s no relationship between them, is misleading and done for ulterior motives. In this case, Judaism wants to hide from the horrors of Zionism, as if Zionists are different from Jews. And the reason for that is to cover over the fact that the US Jewish community wholeheartedly supports the Israeli Jews, by means of the US Jewish Lobby. This lobby makes sure the US government unconditionally supports the Israeli Jews, and also makes sure the US population overwhelmingly backs the Israeli Jews.

Yes, I’m well aware of that very formidable Lobby and the also very formidable damage it does, particularly in the Middle East.

Nevertheless, posted October 26 at its website, a Globe and Mail columnist wrote how during a recent concert at Vancouver’s Hollywood Theatre, “a band member said something about a free Palestine. This, according to attendee Hanah Van Borek, led to a few shouts from the audience: ‘F— the Jews!’ It was clearly audible in her area of the crowd, a person who was with her confirms, but nobody around them shut this down. There were some cheers of support, though. ‘My whole body went into shock,’ says Ms. Van Borek, who is Jewish.

“Ms. Van Borek left the venue and explained why to security staff. She says a worker encouraged her to go back inside and reassured her she was safe. ‘Nobody will be able to tell that you’re Jewish,’ he said, according to Ms. Van Borek. (Oy.) She did return to the show, but Ms. Van Borek was — and is — rattled. She supports the band’s right to make political statements. It was the shouts from this group — and the silence around them — that were alarming.”

One has to wonder whether the 10/7 ‘surprise’ attack was truly unexpected. Like the Cheney-Bush U.S. administration immediately post-9/11, this attack conveniently enables the Israeli Netanyahu government to justify extreme emergency war measures then force through his/its ‘democratic reforms’ and do who-knows-what-more to Palestine, including cleansing it of much of its long-time Palestinian residents. (Albeit, the attack may have been harder than the insiders had anticipated.)

It seems a bit convenient for Israeli power interests; notably, western world governments and especially our mainstream news-media basically all fell into line. Also, not widely publicized is that there are considerable fossil fuel reserves beneath long-held Palestinian land that are a plausible motivator for war. Plus, Netanyahu’s military-officer brother was killed during an attack against Palestinian and German hostage-takers in 1976. He may want more blood for that.

And now, who’s plausibly going to stop the Israel Defense Forces and Prime Minister Netanyahu, especially with their state-of-the-art mostly-American weaponry?

There have been tens of thousands of innocent Palestinian non-combatants killed by Israeli assaults, largely the result of the decades-long Israeli occupation. This time, however, there not only were casualties in Israel but a significant number, even though they’re still far fewer than the Palestinian death toll.

Normally, there are rockets fired from Palestinian territory, intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome anti-missile defenses, and Israel retaliates in their usual many-fold-measures way with smart bombs [etcetera] supplied by U.S. taxpayers, typically killing civilians or school children. The IDF’s frequent ‘defense’ is a claimed belief that their targets were using Palestinian non-combatants basically as human shields.

It’s Israel’s, and too much of the West’s, business-as-usual perception thus inevitable non-intervention. Palestinians are considered disposable. Generally, Israel and Westerners, including our legacy news-media, have been getting accustomed to so many Palestinian deaths over many decades of struggle with Israel.

For quite some time, maybe even decades, they have been perceived thus treated as not being of equal value to those within Israel. This may help explain the relative poverty, with Palestinian children picking through the mountains of Israeli waste basically dumped on territory annexed or on the way to being annexed.

Therefor their great suffering and deaths are somehow less worthy of our actionable concern as otherwise relatively civilized nations. Atrociously, the worth of such life can/will be measured by the overabundance of protracted conditions under which it suffers.

Professor Mirandi doesn’t even mention the US Jewish Lobby, and thus, he doesn’t understand the politics of the USA.
