Daily Polls Show That Israelis Continue to Choose This War

Despite the mass protests calling for a hostage deal and new elections, Israelis still, seemingly without opposition, support the war in Gaza even if it means the sending their children to kill or be killed

By Amira Hass

Most Israelis know that Benjamin Netanyahu is lying to them. Most suspect that his policies are motivated by personal and family interests. Otherwise, the polls would not predict just 18 Knesset seats for Likud under his leadership. And yet most Israelis support him. Yes, in contrast to what polls and pundits are telling us.

This is because the most reliable poll is the continued participation of thousands of Israelis in the onslaught involving mass killing and rampant destruction in Gaza, and in the oppression and expulsion operations taking place in the West Bank.

The unshakable willingness of parents to send their children to kill and be killed, to wound and be wounded, and then to suffer all their lives from post-trauma, is a constant, unchanging response in a poll conducted daily. The whitewashed language and the consensus in the media, along with the cleaving to the belief that war is the solution, is a kind of answer to a question asked between the lines – who do they support?

TikTok photos posted by soldiers – indicating the unwillingness or inability of the IDF to halt the flow of selfies from Gaza – show a smug bestiality devoid of any inhibitions of soldiers and constitute one kind of poll. Parents who don’t express shock or concern that their children, with their own smartphones, are providing the International Criminal Court with incriminating evidence against themselves, are also poll responders who embrace Netanyahu and his military policy, even if they aren’t asked about it and even if they don’t vote for him.

Reservists rushing between the Kaplan Street demonstrations and the ruins of Gaza or its skies, peppered with bombers or predator drones, are also respondents to a poll, whose answer is unambiguous. The continuous whining that the world is antisemitic is the desired response to a poll that leaves Netanyahu drooling every morning.

So is the refusal to understand that in contrast to our TV screens, which remain focused on the horrors of October 7 and the heartbreaking reports about its victims, viewers of foreign TV channels have seen the horrors of bombing and deliberate starvation in the Gaza Strip over the last six months. They are familiar with hundreds, if not thousands, of heartbreaking reports about Palestinian victims.

Many Israelis know that the government led by Netanyahu is consciously allowing tormented hostages to die of hunger, lack of medication, exhaustion, abuse, or from Israeli airstrikes. Apparently, more Israelis than ever before support this undeclared “Hannibal directive” (which allows the military to endanger the life of a soldier to prevent him from being abducted). All for the sake of absolute victory.

Many Israelis know that the hostages and their families and their terrible suffering do not interest this government. They were shocked by politicians’ public statements of derision and their lack of empathy. Many Israelis know that cabinet members are inept clowns in the best case, or wily politicians looking after their own sectors in the worst case.

Many Israelis know that the minister of finance and settlements is destroying our economy. They know that the war is destroying the economy. That the minister of police is giving instructions to silence protesters, while destroying the police. That the minister of education is destroying education and that the minister of communications opposes the freedom of the press. They know that the minister of defense isn’t bringing security. The state is on the ropes, they know.

And they know that the erroneous conception formulated by the prime minister, in collaboration with intelligence and security agencies, according to which Hamas in Gaza was contained, behaving as we wanted it to behave, is the reason for the great calamity that struck the more than 1,400 dead and abducted people, their families and their communities.

And yet, Israelis continue to support this government by the very fact that they report for “work” (the accepted euphemism for the invasion and killing) in Gaza, loyally fulfilling the mission of dispossession carried out by the Israel settlement-defending forces in the West Bank. By the very fact that the Israel Medical Association is not expressing its shock at the reports of starvation in Gaza, with jurists and child welfare organizations not even raising questions regarding the high number of Palestinian children being killed. Support for this government stems from the fact that Kaplan Street demonstrators did not join en masse the dozens of courageous activists who accompany Palestinian farmers and shepherds in order to shield them from settler violence. Neither before nor during this war.

The erroneous conception stems from a goal which has not changed: to get the Palestinians used to the idea that even their minimal ambition for a small sovereign state alongside Israel will not be realized, let alone their expectations that Israel in principle accept its responsibility for the expulsions of 1948 and agree to some process of refugee return, let alone their demands for equality between the river and the sea.

The goal remained what it was even when an Israeli government agreed to recognize the PLO in the Oslo Accords, but not, God forbid, the Palestinian people. Gradually, since the Palestinians refuse to get used to this idea, and because settler organizations have become Israel’s de facto rulers, the realization of this goal has become ever more violent and brutal.

This is how we’ve arrived at the “decisive plan” devised by Bezalel Smotrich for the Palestinians. Either agree to an inferior status, emigrate and be uprooted ostensibly voluntarily, or face defeat and death in a war. This is the plan now carried out in Gaza and the West Bank, with most Israelis serving as active and enthusiastic accomplices, or passively acquiescing in its realization, regardless of their revulsion for this government and its members. The vast majority still believe that war is the solution.

Nazi Zionist Israel is a criminal entity that has created and indoctrinated a vicious, evil population that celebrates cruelty and murder. That nation has to be destroyed, and it will be.

Historically, Jewz are violent folks. ‘There is no comparison in human history to the current Jewish barbaric violence against Palestinian women and children in Gaza’, said Richard Falk, a Princeton Professor of Law. In fact, it is beyond barbaric. “In my field experience, with 35 years of war, I have never seen an army of Jewish terrorists taking pictures, taking videos, posting videos on social media and showing all the war crimes that [the Jews] are doing, laughing and [not] giving a damn about world opinion or about international laws. They are committing war crimes, [and] they know they are doing it. They’re committing crimes against humanity. … and they say, ‘we don’t care what you think. One day you will forget.’” said war correspondent Elijah Magnier. Since the beginning of October 2023, Israeli Jews have brutally slaughtered more than 35,000 of unarmed and defenceless Palestinian civilians – two third of them are children and women – in Gaza. Jews are committing the greatest in real-time and televised mass murder of unarmed civilians in human history. Let’s hope, Jewish leaders will be held accountable for their crimes against the Palestinian in the same way the Nazis were held accountable for their crimes. Unlike the Nazis, Jews pose the greatest threat to world’s peace and humanity itself. The only way to peace is the removal of the Jewish regime in Palestine.

Exactly. The vast majority of Israelis don’t give a rip about the murders of over 30k innocent Palestinians. All some of them care about are the Jewish hostages being held by Hamas; of course they never mention the thousands of Palestinian hostages rotting in Israeli dungeons.

Israel’s now a lunatic state bent on luring the world into a major conflagration. Bombing the Iranian diplomats in Damascus, murdering the good hearted World Central Kitchen workers yesterday, bombing more hospitals (I’ve lost track of all the major Zio attacks on Palestinian hospitals) means we’re dealing with a rabid mad dog that’s gone berserk.

Iran intends on responding soon to the Zio murder of its generals and diplomats in Syria. Once this happens our pro-Israel media here in the U.S. are going to go into hyper-drive demanding a violent response by the Washington-militarist empire.

The creepy Zio sadists in Washington MUST be put under control by the American people. They fund virtually all of the politicians’ campaigns. We must call out their undemocratic encroachments on free-speech and free-expression in every sphere, we must demand Israel be held to account for its grotesque and malicious conduct that could lead to World War 3.

Drew, The last I checked, about 65% of US democrat presidential campaign contributions are made by Jews (not just so-called “Zionists”), and about 25% to Republicans.

I read something a couple weeks ago that seemed very credible (sorry, I’ve forgotten the direct source) but it said that only about 2% of Israelis think the Israeli Defense [sic] Force is using too much force. Only two percent!

This points out once again that right now, THEE most important book in the world is Israel Shahak’s “Jewish History, Jewish Religion.” I know I’ve mentioned this book countless times, but it bears repeating, it’s the seminal book of the moment. It’s a relatively short read too.

Just a few days ago I made the comment that 100% of Israelis supported every single action and policy of the government. I was attacked from some quarters in these pages of being extremist in my assessment. This is again clear proof that I was right. Outside of the orbit of the Zionist entity, there are many decent Jews who accuse and expose Israel for what they are, however we also see many opportunists that can sense a defeat and obliteration of that hideous country, and decided to call for an end to the carnage. I’m sorry, I can not honestly give them the benefit of the doubt, where were them for the last 80 years of this genocidal campaign? Too late for tears now, Israel must pay in blood for all its crimes past and present.

Years ago, Israeli Gen. Moshe Dayan, then the minister of defense, said: “Israel must be seen as a mad dog; too dangerous to bother.”

As to whether Israel has become too dangerous to bother, that is surely debatable, though we must be forever mindful of the Samson option. However, what is not debatable is the fact that Israel has become a mad dog, and they are baring their bloodstained fangs for all the world to see, while simultaneously extending their middle finger in defiance!

Here’s what the great Voltaire had to say about the Jews:

In his ”Letter of Memmius to Cicero” (1771), Voltaire wrote of the Jews: ”They are, all of them, born with raging fanaticism in their hearts, just as the Bretons and the Germans are born with blond hair. I would not be in the least bit surprised if these people would not someday become deadly to the human race.”

This was quite prescient of Voltaire, and here we are over 250 years later and Israel, the so-called Jewish state, has indeed become a danger to the human race. And any serious attempt to neutralize them may very well result in the rest of the world going down with them!

The next year (1772) in his essay, “One Must Take Sides,” Voltaire had this to say about the Jews:

”You have surpassed all nations in impertinent fables, in bad conduct and in barbarism. You deserve to be punished, for this is your destiny.”

Once again, Voltaire’s observations about the Jew’s from the 18th century are spot-on and highly relevant to the behavior we are seeing from the savage state of Israel today in the twenty-first century, which can politely be described as “bad conduct and barbarism!” Unfortunately, due to the unflagging support of America and friends, Israel will not be easy to punish, and the danger of a far larger conflagration in the middle east and beyond is very real!

And, to my mind, when an overwhelming majority of the Israeli Jews support the genocide of the Palestinians, despite the attempts of the pathetic, lying, controlled MSM to portray them as the victims, they do not deserve our sympathy!

    1. paul edwards Avatar

Voltaire was indeed an incisive, fecund mind but he had the limitations of his day. One of them was that he could justify anathematizing an entire human group, considered a “race” then, a people. To do so today–to denounce a human group, racial or otherwise–is not logically sound or ethical. There are no wholly evil human groups: faiths, races, colors, or nationalities.

Paul, your point is well taken! Of course, Voltaire was a product of his time, as we are of ours. However, based on what we’re seeing from Israel today, which is beyond the pale, let us say, so as to avoid condemning all Jews (which would be a grave error), that his observations are spot-on with respect to the behavior of the mad dog Zionist Jews committing these atrocities in modern Palestine! And don’t forget, that the overwhelming majority of Israeli Jews support the genocide…what does this say about them?

        1. paul edwards Avatar

I am as outraged and furious an enemy of Nazi Zionist Israel and its sick, propagandized, subhuman people as any man can be, and you are dead right to condemn them for the limitless evil they are working in Gaza. I believe the only solution–or rather endpoint, for there is no solution–is the destruction of the illegal, vicious, predatory Israeli state.
